IPL 2021: Guwahati Might Get Its Very Own IPL Team!!!
The Indian Premier League or commonly known as IPL is very much popular in India and in many parts of the world. It is among the most-attended cricket leagues in the world. Players from different countries take part in the IPL. Many of them consider it as the best cricket league in the world too.
IPL is held every year between the months of May and March. IPL 2020 got postponed because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, it was later scheduled to happen from September to November. IPL 2020 took place in UAE. It was a huge success and cheered up the minds of the audience who were facing a pandemic.
There have been reports that suggest that BCCI might include two new teams in the upcoming edition of IPL. Ahmedabad has the highest chances of getting its very own IPL team in IPL 2021. Apart from Ahmedabad, Guwahati might also get its own IPL team. The Assam Cricket Association is looking forward to proposing a Guwahati-based IPL team at BCCI’s AGM that is scheduled to happen on 24th December this year.
There are tons of rumors going on about the inclusion of new teams in IPL 2021. As we said earlier, Ahmedabad has the highest chances of getting added to the list of IPL teams. One among Pune, Guwahati, Kanpur, and Lucknow are being considered too. However, Guwahati has very few chances.
If everything goes well, IPL 2021 will be held in March next year. So, there is very little time left for the auction. In that case, reports also suggest that BCCI might skip adding new teams in IPL 2021 and will execute the idea in IPL 2022. Moreover, with the inclusion of two more teams in the IPL, the total number of matches will also increase. Seeing the current situation, it might be very much difficult to have so many matches.
BCCI’s AGM is scheduled for 24th December 2020. We will have to wait until then to receive the official updates regarding the next edition of IPL.
